Angela Komorowski Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sad passing of our sweet mom, Angela Komorowski (Angie, Double A) in her 79th year, on April 12, 2024. Daughter of late Maxwell and Betty Stoddart, loving sister of late Jim Stoddart (Val).

Angela’s life was full of travels that started at a young age where her family left England and moved to Jamaica before arriving in Canada.

In Oakville, mom spent her teen years, attending Thomas A Blakelock High School, where her talents as an athlete were met when she was awarded athlete of the year. She also found 3 of her 5 best friends along that journey - Dallas, Sue, and Ginny. To this very day, a response to “you old bag,” was roared and followed by lots of laughter, and usually singing of a happy birthday. Or who was older. Those 4 strong, funny, talented, and depending on whom you asked, beautiful women formed a friendship that weathered all kinds of storms, weddings, children, illnesses, and deaths. Although many miles between, they were forever connected and shared many many adventures and stories. Their intense love of laughter and music had them dancing always to Elvis, the Everly Brothers, Sam Cooke, The Rolling Stones, and many more.

Wherever Angela travelled warmth and a sense of gathering followed, her smile and her infectious laugh welcomed everyone she met.  In her younger years her job at Air Canada would have her and friend Iola enjoying many adventures around the world.  She would often share all the laughs and places she got to see.

She also met on one of her many adventures her beloved Joan McCallum (George) or Joanie, and we have come to love her as family.

Angela later settled into Calgary.  Little did she know that her life would be changed forever with a chance meeting of Christine Kozier (her soul sister) and her husband to be and companion for life Edward Komorowski. Together they raised their family in Streetsville, ON, then ventured to Georgetown, ON.  Married November 09, 1974, this union became a family of a non-traditional kind.   Throughout this was a home of love, laughter, music, and food. Many an afternoon, the two ladies, Ang and Chris would sit and discuss how they could fix the world as they laughed and shared their opinions.

Throughout her life in Streetsville, was hardly a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night that the Gang was not gather in the kitchen, or family room, enjoying moms cooking and singing and dancing with the extended family – Fern/Lilly, Marija/Trino, Brian/Sylvia, and the Bells, and Aunty Chris dancing, singing, and laughing the nights away.

Angie is survived and adored by her three children, Jenny (Bernard), Laurel (Lewin) and Michael (Julie) and her extended daughters Kristi (Wayne) and Kori (Doug) and extended sons Andrew and Chris (Leanne) and her precious and forever loved grandchildren Austin, Ben, Sophie (Bailey), Jackson, Kane, Saniyah, Joseph, Kaeleigh (Hayden), Shea, Matt, Carolyn, Colin, Sam and cherished  sweet great- granddaughter Lainey.

Remembered for her love of family and friendship, and her devotion to watching sports, the Blue Jays and Raptor.   Angie’s heart was truly felt with the love she gave to hosting family functions and friends over the many years.  She enjoyed her many years at Huttonville Public School, with her work bff Sue (old poop) and then as a dedicated and loved bus driver. She loved to cook, and her cooking was adored. Mom loved music and she was happiest when the house was full and there was lots of laughter and chatter.

Mom felt home is where your family was, and although never overstayed, she called many places home England, Jamaica, Oakville, Calgary, Lindsay, Mississauga, Georgetown, Renfrew and then later out in the beautiful PEI.

Those that know Angie, know her true being was to never complain, and to put others before herself, and even in those final weeks, where she required care herself, she greeted all with a smile and often asked how she could help the nurse or doctor, and never let her children know just how much pain she was actually in.

A special mention to our family Ginger and Grace Scott for all the kindness, care, laughter, and Andre Rieu concert.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful care and compassion of the entire Nurses and Doctors in Unit 3 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, she felt safe and she felt loved as did we through our 7 week stay there. Thank- you does not seem special enough for the care and the laughter they provided in the last days of Angela’s life.

As requested, mom had asked to be cremated (Belvedere Funeral Home PEI), which took exquisite care of mom, and that she would enjoy a grand celebration of life, which will follow later this year, to share memories and smiles of Angie’s life.
