Friend Louis Herring

Friend Louis Herring, aged 81, was born on August 25th, 1942 in Charlottetown, PEI. He peacefully departed this world on April 13, 2024 surrounded by the warmth of his loved ones. Friend’s greatest joy emanated from being with his family. His role as a father and grandfather was not a duty but a cherished privilege.

Friend is survived by his loving children Josie (Dan) Gass and Jon; grandchildren Dalton and Mackenzie Gass, his precious sister Elaine Herring, niece Gayle Stewart and brother in law Floyd Stewart. Friend was proceeded in death by his wife, Florine (Stewart). We know mom would have been there waiting for him.   

He will be remembered for his love of taking in anything his grandchildren were doing at the time. There were many hours spent watching hockey, soccer and dance performances. Being with them was his favorite place to be. Friend enjoyed time with his church family and taking in Charlottetown Islanders games. Friend leaves behind a legacy of helping others which will be cherished by family and friends. Although his absence leaves a void, gratitude fills our hearts for the countless years of shared memories.

A special acknowledgement extends to Friend’s caregivers and nurses at The Mount Continuing Care Community during his final days, whose compassion was a true blessing.

A private celebration of life will be held later with family members.
