The death occurred peacefully at the Garden Home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 of William Alfred “Bill” Reid of Charlottetown, originally of Belfast, Northern Ireland, age 90 years. In addition to his parents, Thomas and Marie Reid, Bill was predeceased by his wife, Ina Reid (nee Potter) and his son, Paul.
He will be fondly remembered by his children, David (Susan) and Sandra (Daniel); grandchildren, Graham, Andrew (Sarah), Catherine, Colleen (Zach), and Paula; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Parker, Landon, Mila, Elijah, and Elliot.
Bill is survived by his brothers, Thomas Beattie (Heady) and Robert (Carol- deceased) both of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Bill and his wife left Ireland to begin life in Canada in 1956 and were married and lived in Quebec City for 10 years where Bill worked as a naval architect.
Bill and Ina moved to Ottawa in the early 60s then to Charlottetown in 1978 and Saskatoon in 1984 where Bill later retired as a senior executive with the Government of Canada after a 30-year career.
While living and working on the Island, Bill was the Regional Executive Director of the Department of Regional Industrial Expansion.
Bill served the Lord for many years on church boards in Ottawa, Charlottetown, and Saskatoon.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home where visitation will take place on Saturday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A home-going service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m.
