TYPES OF FUNERALS

A funeral or memorial service provides an opportunity for family and friends to meet and support each other at a time of great loss. We offer services and options to meet each individual's needs.

Our Full Service includes visitation, a ceremony either at the funeral home chapel or a church of choice, and disposition which can be in the form of earth burial or cremation. Our Full Service includes: transfer of the body to the funeral home from place of release; necessary care of the human remains; preparation of documents; vehicles; staff; facilities; and a selection of our available books and thank- you cards. Service bulletins are also available. For those who choose a full service, we offer a selection room displaying 26 caskets and 13 urns.

For those choosing alternate services we offer: direct disposition; direct disposition with a memorial service; or direct disposition with visitation and memorial service. For these services, disposition takes place before the visitation or memorial service. These services include transfer of the body to the funeral home from place of release; care of the human remains; cremation case; preparation of documents; vehicles; staff, and a choice of books and thank you cards. Service bulletins are also available.

For those who choose cremation as a form of disposition, you may choose to have a full service with the body present followed by cremation, or you may choose any of the alternate services outlined above. If you choose a full service and cremation, you may choose from any of our caskets and urns or you may choose a rental casket and urn. We offer cremation on-site at Belvedere Funeral Home.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

Just like a funeral service, a memorial service is a time to remember your loved one. This can be held shortly after death or weeks later, with or without an urn present. What’s important is that it creates a time and a place for family and friends to gather together and support one another, share memories and pay their respects. We can hold a memorial service at our funeral home, the final resting place or at your home.

BURIAL

A casket burial is a traditional service and there are many options you can choose from. We can provide an immediate burial without a public service; a visitation, viewing or wake with a closed or open casket; a funeral service at our funeral home, church or private home and a graveside service at a cemetery. You can choose whether you’d like a public or private service or a combination. It is entirely up to you how you wish to pay your respects.

CREMATION

Cremation has become a popular option for many people because it can be more flexible as to where and when you hold a service. You can have a traditional funeral service before a cremation or a memorial service at any time with or without the urn present. You can keep the urn, scatter the ashes or have the urn buried in a grave or columbarium where we can hold a service. Whether you choose burial or cremation, we’re here to offer you a meaningful ceremony.

If it is the wish of the family or was the wish of the deceased they be cremated, as opposed to earth burial, we are in a position to make all the necessary arrangements and are familiar with all of the procedural problems.

Because cremation is merely an option to earth burial, this does not mean that the other parts of the funeral service may not be traditional. For instance, you can still have a public or private visitation, a funeral service with the casket present and cremation occurring following the service, or a memorial service after the visitation period, with the urn present.

We can advise you with regard to your specific needs or requests, and can also offer a variety of urns for the containment of the cremated remains.

Cremated remains can be either interred in a cemetery lot, scattered in an appropriate setting, or kept for a later time to permit the cremated remains of the spouse to be interred or scattered at the same time.
