Amber was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, friend and coworker. She was an Electrical Engineer, with a Masters in Business Administration who displayed her passion for engineering throughout her career. Amber combined her entrepreneurial spirit and interest in STEM through her business endeavors with coSolved Consulting, Bricks4Kidz and as the brainchild creating and directing STEAMPEI. She inspired thousands of young Islanders through her actions and her work life to promote science, technology, engineering, arts and math. She was committed to making sure students had access to science and was a strong voice for educational reform. She rests at peace knowing that STEAMPEI will carry on in her honor, with her strength and perseverance as the inspiration.

Amber dedicated her time volunteering throughout her life. She received multiple awards including the 2023 Queen’s Jubilee Medal for dedicated service to peers, community and PEI, and in 2018 she received the Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce People’s Choice for Community Impact award.

Outside of work she enjoyed travelling, playing softball, volleyball and Amber especially enjoyed learning about other cultures and languages.  Amber embraced Jacob’s Mi’kmaq culture and grew to love the ceremonies, the people and especially the language. She would sit with Momma and learn each word, asking questions, as her inquisitive mind would seek to understand all of the meaning behind the language. She not only understood the culture, she believed in it. Most of all, Amber was a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Special thanks to the Abegweit First Nation Community for embracing Amber for the last 30 years. Thank you to the Nurses and Doctor of Abegweit Health Centre for their unwavering support, as well as the Doctors and Nurses of the Cancer Treatment Centre where Amber received chemo every 3 weeks for the past 6 ½ years.  A special thank you to the staff at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre for the warmth and comfort they so freely provided in Amber’s final days.
