With very heavy hearts, the family of Anne Mamye announce her passing February 19, 2026 at the Palliative Care Centre in Charlottetown.
Anne is survived by her loving husband and best friend Chris Lund, her sister Tanya O’Brien (John), brother Charles Mamye (Jessica O’Leary) and father-in-law Eddie Lund. Anne will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews Katie (Logan) Waite, Hannah O’Brien (Nolan Healy), Alex O’Brien, Emily, Jena and Dryden Mamye and her very special grand nephew Owen, who she already had fitted with a Habs jersey. And of course, her four-legged companions Chester and Fynn who kept her company and brought her such joy.
Anne is predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Arlene Mamye and her mother-in-law Joan Lund.
Anne grew up in Sherwood but moved to Stouffville, Ontario to begin her teaching career. She returned to the Island, her “home”, to have more family support and spend time with those she loved. Anne was a real sports person, playing ringette, field hockey and soccer competitively at university and recreationally up until she was sidelined by her illness and then from her armchair as she cheered on her favorite teams.
To Anne’s many friends including the posse, students, and colleagues, she truly appreciated spending time, catching up and hearing the very kind words as to the difference she made in many of her student’s lives.
Anyone who knew Anne, knew her tenacity and strong will and this carried her through the challenging times of living with cancer. For those who want to make a difference in the lives of those reaching end of life, donations to the Palliative Care Centre would be appreciated.
