Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Audrey Simmonds, on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre. She was surrounded by her loving family, who were a constant source of comfort and support during her journey.

Audrey's life story began on December 28, 1940, as she was welcomed into the world by her grandmother (Momma Sandy) and her mother, Ethel MacCallum. Raised by two strong and beautiful women, Audrey's foundation of strength, love, and compassion was firmly established.

Throughout her 60 plus year journey with the love of her life, Harry, Audrey's world revolved around their unbreakable bond. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, from raising a family to enjoying their shared passions of golfing, horse racing, and traveling. Their cherished moments were often shared with dear friends, as they organized social gatherings that created lasting memories. Their sanctuary during the summer months was their cherished cottage on the Montague River, a place filled with love, laughter, and tranquility.

Audrey's heart overflowed with pride and joy in her role as grandmother to Owen and Katie, who truly lit up her life. Overcoming great distances, she forged deep connections with them and embarked on countless travel adventures, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

Dedicating over 26 years to Health and Social services, Audrey's professional journey was a testament to her caring nature and unwavering dedication. The friendships she formed during this time continued to enrich her life and the lives of those around her.

Audrey's ability to accept and care for others, regardless of circumstances, was a unique and precious gift. She held a special place in the hearts of her family and friends, often being the trusted go-to person whenever help was needed. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Her infectious laughter and ability to find humor in herself and every situation endeared her to everyone she met. Audrey's belly laugh, like no other, resonated with those fortunate enough to share in her joy.

As we bid farewell to Mom, let us remember her as a beacon of love, strength, and warmth. Her legacy of love and the impact she had on countless lives will forever be etched in our hearts.

Audrey was predeceased by the love of her life, Harry Simmonds. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Jo-Anne (Kenzie Macpherson) Redlands, California, Sandra (Mike Heilemann) Bradford, Ontario and Grandson Owen Macpherson (Kaitlin Atkinson), Granddaughter Katie Macpherson.
