With an appreciation for a life well lived, the death of Bernadette “Bernie” Newman occurred on January 28, 2026 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at the age of 89 years. Bernie was predeceased by her husband, Bill Newman.

Bernie was born on August 11, 1936 to the late Eileen and Joseph Costello.

Bernie is survived by her siblings, Gloria Trowsdale (Ron), Kevin Costello (Lorraine), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernie was also predeceased by her step-mother Mary, and by her siblings, Phyllis, Barbara, Shirley, and Marie.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, a visitation and Funeral Mass will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bernie may be made to a charity of your choice.
