Betty Lois MacKenzie

The death occurred peacefully at the Atlantic Baptist Home in Charlottetown on November 21, 2024 of Betty Lois MacKenzie of Hartsville PEI, age 88. Predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert MacKenzie. Born in Darlington, PEI to Lloyd and Eileen (Howatt) MacLeod. Survived by loving children David (Barb), Richard (Bonnie), Thane (Laura), Judy (Tyler) Wright, and son-in-law Murray MacPherson. Dedicated and caring Nanny to Craig (Lindsay) and Darryl (Bri); Shauna (Mike) Cavanagh and Lloyd (Katherine); Cuyla Thompson and Samantha (Mike) Darrach; Michelle (Brendan); MacKenzie (Jonathan) and Nathan Wright. Great-Nanny to Nate MacKenzie; Tegan, Devlin and Ailen Cavanagh; Myia Thompson; Kirklin and Lillian Darrach. 

Predeceased by her beloved daughter Janice MacPherson and cherished grandson John MacKenzie both in 2024, her brother Fenton in 1963, and her son-in-law Kirk Allen in 1997. 

Betty and Robert were proud dairy, beef and potato farmers of MacKenzie Hill Farm in Hartsville. Betty was an active partner on the farm and in the summer season she worked at Chez Yvonne’s Restaurant for 28 years. She maintained many friendships with Chez Yvonne’s staff and customers after her retirement.

The family thanks the staff at Atlantic Baptist Home for their care and compassion during Mom’s time there - they are fantastic. A special thank you to Brenda for being with Mom in her final moments.

Visiting hours on Wednesday November 27 from 5 to 8 pm, funeral service on Thursday at 11 am. Reception to follow at Belvedere Funeral home reception centre. Interment at Hartsville Cemetery immediately after reception. Family flowers only.
