It is with love and gratitude that the family of Brian Joseph Pirkey announce his passing on December 1, 2025, at the age of 61. Cremation has taken place, and he is currently resting at Cobb’s Funeral Home, Riverview NB in trust and partnership with Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown PEI.
Brian died peacefully with family by his side at the Hospice South- East New Brunswick, Albert House, Moncton, NB. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer just seven short months ago. He was fortunate to have been taken in by his baby brother, Brad and wife Mackenzie and their family at their home in Moncton, NB. With much love and support, Brian got to spend some precious visits from his parents, sister Beth Anne, extended family and friends.
Brian was born in Phoenix, Arizona to parents Clyde and Jeanette (Peters) Pirkey on August 9, 1964. In 1970, The Pirkey’s moved to Canada where they raised their family in Winsloe, PEI. Brian grew up going to school at West Kent, Birchwood Elementary and graduated from Charlottetown Rural in 1982. He then spent one year studying at the University of PEI and then a term at the University of Grenoble, France.
Following his adventures in Europe, Brian moved home to PEI where he entered the workforce and dabbled in various types of employment until he moved back to the USA in 1985. Being nomadic, he spent thirty years moving throughout the United States, working mainly in sales. He recently lived and worked in Palm Springs, California and was a Representative for Life Source Water Systems, with whom he had been employed for the past twelve years. Having lived so far from home, his work family was very special to him as they provided him with much comfort and support over the years.
The whole family mourns his loss deeply. Brian leaves behind his parents, Clyde, known to most as ‘Pirkey’ and Jeanette of Andrew’s Lodge, Stratford, PEI, his brother Bruce of Pisquid, PEI, his sister Beth Anne of Dieppe, NB, and his brother Brad (wife Mackenzie) of Moncton, NB. As he had no children of his own, he had a special place in his heart for his nieces Madeline and Paige, and his nephew Ryan. He also precedes many of the Koehler family first cousins and their families of Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, as well as many of the Peters family uncles, aunts and cousins living on PEI and across Canada. He will be fondly remembered and missed by many friends and colleagues across Canada and the USA.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be entrusted to Belvedere Funeral Home in Charlottetown, PEI at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice SENB, Albert House, 156 Peasant St., Moncton, NB E1A 2V5.
