The death of (Bud) Henry Clayton MacDonald occurred peacefully at home in Stratford, PE surrounded by the love of his family, on Thursday, November 28th, 2024 at age of 96 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mae (nee Baglole).
Bud was born in Glace Bay NS on August 11th, 1928 to the late John and Elizabeth (nee Somerton) MacDonald.
He will be missed by his daughter Heather (Roland); stepchildren, Cheryl Devine (Jack), Alfred Waite (Debbie), and Lana Waite (Brian); his grandchildren, Sharie Hughes (Robi), Nick Holmes (Amy Morrow), Jarrod Adams (Kristy), Joee Adams (Jaime Hood), Katelyn Miller (David), Ben MacSwain, Julia MacSwain (Cullen Mullally); his step-grandson, Christopher Walsh (Rachel); as well as many great-grandchildren.
Bud was born and educated in Glace Bay NS and Kitchener ON. He worked in the newspaper business for five years at the Cape Breton Post and the Halifax Chronicle Herald. He was employed with Beneficial Financial Group for 40 years, retiring in 1993 as Senior Manager. He was a member of the Kinsmen (K40) Club and past president of the Charlottetown Kinsmen Club, and a member of the Credit Association of Canada. Bud, at one time, was a curler but for the past years he was a casual golfer. He loved music of all genres and loved having friends and family get togethers.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 3 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception will then take place in the Belvedere Funeral Home Reception Centre, followed by the interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Donations in Bud’s memory may be made to the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre.
