Constance (Connie) Affleck Obituary

It is with profound sadness we inform you of the passing of Constance “Connie” Mae Affleck, at the age of 81, in the early hours of Sunday, April 7. Daughter of the late George Alexander Fraser and Minnie Mae (Boudreau) of Pictou, N.S. Predeceased by the love of her life, Harold “Garth” Affleck of Mt Stewart, PE. She was the seventh of eight siblings, and the final to earn her wings. Survived by her two sons, Collin (Janice) Affleck and Fraser Affleck and her daughter, Lisa Affleck. Loving grandmother to Jonathan, Chelsey and Karley; and Kyla (Marc Richard) and Evan Koke (Darcy) and to her precious great-grandchildren; Eli, Simon and Maeve. Devoted snuggle buddy to her fur babies; Leo and Meila.

Connie served in the Canadian Armed Forces where she met her future husband, Garth. She took an early retirement to follow him in his service with the military and they travelled from Goose Bay, N.L., to Sudbury, Ont. Upon Garth’s retirement, they settled in Mt Stewart, P.E.I. where they would raise their three children. Mt Stewart was home for their shared life, a community they loved, and Connie eventually moved to Charlottetown following Garth’s passing.

Known affectionately as “Mom and Gramie” she was an absolute light as the matriarch of the Affleck family; her days were full of family suppers, ice cream dates, bringing the dogs treats and chasing one great-grandbaby or another around. She was a star bowler, regularly putting her own family to shame and her perfect scores were greatly missed by her bowling league team when she retired. She will be remembered for her kind heart, quick wit and her “fat archies”- cookies enjoyed by many. She never let you leave the house hungry and when she passed the torch for cooking Christmas supper she could never quite sit still, maintaining her role as sous chef even when told to rest. We will sure miss that gravy.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Atlantic Baptist Home for filling her final months with attentive and gentle care.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown. No visitation by personal request. Private graveside service to be held at a later date at Peoples Cemetery in Mt Stewart, PE. If so desired donations can be made in Connie’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
