Daniel Cox Obituary

Surrounded by family, Daniel Robert Cox passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre at the age of 72.

Born in Goa, India on September 24, 1953, Daniel’s life journey began with his adoption by Dorothy Cox of Morell, PEI, a W.H.O. nurse whose care and compassion helped shape the man he would become. Daniel carried that same spirit of generosity and connection throughout his life.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Amanda Cox and Jonathan Cox (Jacquelyn Black), and by his beloved grandchildren—Theo, Addilynn, and Harlow—who knew him simply and lovingly as “Poppy.” Missed dearly by only remaining family on Daniel's side, his cousin Jon Pritchard (Jo Pritchard) and their beautiful daughter Aiyana Skye Pritchard. He is also remembered with respect and care by Diana Cox (née Burns), the mother of his children.

Daniel built a life rooted in community. Through his work with the City of Charlottetown and the Rustico Legion, and especially through his decades-long involvement in bowling and softball, he became a mentor, coach, and steady presence to many. From recreation leagues to provincial and national competitions, Daniel gave his time freely, always encouraging others to grow, participate, and enjoy the game.

He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—sharing meals, celebrating culture, following the Toronto Blue Jays, and spending time with those he loved most. His greatest pride, however, was his family.

His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched—with kindness, humour, and quiet dedication.

Visitation will be held at Belvedere Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 2nd from 4:00–7:00 p.m. A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held at a later date.
