We are heartbroken to announce that David “Campy” Gallant of Sherwood, PEI passed suddenly, yet peacefully, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Born on May 18, 1961, he was the son of the late Leo and Joyce (Paquet) Gallant.
He is survived by his children, Cory (Cindy), Kirstie (Joey) Keen, and Kilby MacRae; their mother (aka his "favourite ex-wife"), Shari Lewis; and his five cherished grandchildren, D’Arcie, Marley, Georgia, Beckham, and Max. He is also survived by his siblings, Derek (Lauraine Simpson), Kim (Ensor) McNeill, Randy (Paula), and Robert, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his special nephews who have many memorable moments with their “Uncle Campy".
Campy dedicated many years of service to Air Canada, where he had not only his dream job, but a close-knit family of colleagues who will all miss him dearly.
Known for his louder-than-life personality, Campy loved telling stories, playing cards, going to the beach, and assigning everyone nicknames. He also loved to travel, especially to various MLB parks with the "ballpark crew".
Campy was a passionate sports fan who loved watching his Chicago sports teams and curling, which fueled the odd Facebook rant. If not a rant, we could always count on the yearly birthday post for his close pal, Bruce Springsteen.
He will forever be remembered for his animated stories, his generous spirit, and his "colourful" language.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the QEH, the Halifax Infirmary, and the Island EMS for their compassionate care.
Those wishing to celebrate his life are invited to drop by The Loft (upstairs at Coach's Restaurant & Sports Bar in Charlottetown) on Saturday, April 11th between 5:00pm and 9:00pm. Sleeves optional!
In honour of Campy, feel free to have "a dart", a Pepsi, or a Red Bull. Should you wish to make a donation in his memory, please consider KidSport PEI here Donation.
