David (Dave) Robinson Jr. Obituary

David Carlyle Robinson Jr was born on June 6, 1961, in Saint John, NB and died surrounded by the love of his family and friends on February 11, 2025, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, PE. David, is the eldest son of the late Joyce Elaine (Delaney) Robinson of Saint John, NB and David Carlyle Robinson of St Stephen, NB.

Davie was the second eldest of four siblings; Julie, Jennifer and Ashley, who grew up spending the school year in Saint John and the summers on the shores of Oak Bay NB; the perfect combination for a boy like David to develop his spirit as a calm and composed, thoughtful and compassionate gentleman, who would step up to the plate even in the toughest of circumstances. Davie also had a subtle sense of humor that would spark a full body laugh and, later bring a smile to one remembering Dave’s quick wit and his sense of adventure and mischief behind those beautiful blue eyes. At the age of 18 years, he left NB for a job with a finance company, Canadian Acceptance, in PEI. Although Dave decided that type of work was not for him, Island life was, and he stayed.

As a young boy and throughout his life, Davie was always a “thinker” and liked to “figure things out”. Hence, his pursuit of lifelong satisfying career began with installing office furniture and garage doors, then as a carpenter on the crew that built the ice-shields and pier shafts for Confederation Bridge. After that, Dave built and installed cabinets and kitchens before finding his niche, founding GMP compliant Global Installation Group (GIG) in 2006, to build and maintain facilities for fish vaccine production. GIG’s short history was very much a part of the growing presence of the international Animal Health industry in Charlottetown from Novartis to Eli Lilly & Co. and the transfer to it’s Animal Health division Elanco (including the former Research and Development facility in Victoria), to Merck, and in addition, with the expansion of facilities for PEI BioAlliance.

Music was always a part of Dave’s day with good tunes and good sound at home and on the road. A ride on his Harley motorcycle or a van trip was always relaxing and entertaining for him. For his children, nieces and nephews a ride on the Harley felt like a rite of passage! Dave was also a devoted member of the Charlottetown Harley Club that has hosted many events benefiting the local community. Last fall, his last bike run was with a couple of friends on the classic Route 66.

Davie’s rambling heart was settled when he fell in love with his “Island girl” in Whistler BC. Where else would Maritimers gather in those days? Together Dave and Lynn made their home in Mermaid devoting themselves to their two children, Jade and Brett and gatherings with family and friends. When time permitted, they enjoyed motorcycle trips around the Maritimes.

David is survived by his loving wife, Lynn, their two children Jade (Tyson) and Brett, his three siblings Julie (Jim), Jennifer (Ron) and Ashley, many nieces and nephews, and parents-in-law Eleanor Boswell and Owen MacRae.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held with a wake from 5 pm to 7 pm, Friday, May 16th at the Belvedere Funeral Home (175 Belvedere Ave. Charlottetown, PE C1A 2Y9), and on Saturday, May 17th at the Zion Presbyterian Church (135 Prince St, Charlottetown, PE C1A 7K2), at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at the Mermaid Calvin Presbyterian Cemetery in Mermaid, PE.
