It is with heavy hearts the family of Donald Roderick MacDonald, loving and devoted husband to Sharon Ann (Griffin) MacDonald, announces his sudden passing which occurred on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
Born in Ottawa, ON, on June 26, 1954, he was the son of the late John and Mary (O’Hanley) MacDonald. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Kevin Grant and Kevin MacAdam.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, Sharon, he is survived by his sons John William MacDonald (Nikki), Phillip MacDonald (Falyn) and Kyle MacDonald (Mariah); cherished grandchildren Nate, Hayes, Dean, Ally, Brooks and Noah; brothers Jack MacDonald and Gerry MacDonald; sisters Elaine Grant, Ann Shephard (Graham), Jean Mason (Alan), Jane MacAdam and Maryrose Connolly (Billy); brothers-in-law Earl Griffin (Lorraine), Wayne Griffin, Everett Griffin (Sheila), Paul Griffin (Colleen) and Alban Griffin (Marilyn); sister-in-law Maureen Griffin Peters (Eric); several nieces and nephews.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He worked as an Accountant for the Provincial Government and retired from Holland College. Don was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and with the Knights of Columbus. Don was a stone cold Montreal fan in a leafs household. He was well known as the Tax Man, doing many tax returns for family and friends.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, with visitation on Wednesday, August 16 from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis of Assisi Church on Thursday, August 17 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Donations in memory of Don may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
