Donalda Marie Kenny

Donalda Marie Kenny, late of Stratford, and formerly of Charlottetown, died on June 8, 2024.  Donalda was born in Charlottetown on August 17, 1947, to the late Reginald and Margaret Kenny. Donalda graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Charlottetown and then went on to St. Martha’s School of Nursing in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.  Donalda returned to work as a nurse on PEI and worked primarily in mental health at the McGill Treatment Centre until her retirement in 2008. Donalda was predeceased by her wonderful parents, her husband Allen Smethurst, brothers and sisters-in-law, Benjamin Taylor, Judy MacDonald, Tommy Smethurst and Billy Smethurst, and mother-in-law Marion Smethurst. Donalda is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Robbie Creed.  She was the proud grandmother of Cole and Aleah Creed. She is also survived by her siblings Marilyn Taylor and Gene Kenny along with Kenna Sullivan and sister-in-law Ruth MacNeill.  Donalda was the fun aunt to Colleen Taylor (Nick Martin), Cynthia Taylor, Charlotte Taylor, Amber Kenny (Andre Vuk), Tyler Kenny (Ashley), Katherine Morris (Ron Rice) and Michael Morris along with numerous grand nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew Donalda remembers her quick wit, sarcasm, her love of gossip and of her pets. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the PEI Humane Society. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home and no visitation by family request but the family would love to hear your hilarious stories about Donalda.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
