Dr. Sheri Ross Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Dr. Sheri J. Ross announce her peaceful passing on August 16, 2024 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in PEI. Born in Saint John on May 6, 1970, she was the daughter of John and Nancy Ross.

Sheri leaves behind her loving husband Graham Bateman, mother Nancy Ross, sister Margot Dann (Malcolm), niece Kendra Dickeson (Shawn) and great nephew Ross, who she adored so much. She also leaves behind her beloved felines Joey, Fergus and Duncan.

She was predeceased by her father John Ross.

Sheri graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1996 and went on to complete her Internship, Internal Medicine Residency and PhD in Nephrology and Urology at the University of Minnesota. After serving as an Assistant Clinical Professor in MN, she moved to the University of California Veterinary Medical Center in San Diego in 2006 to complete a Fellowship in Renal Medicine/Hemodialysis.

She remained with UC Davis as the coordinator of the Nephrology/Urology and Extracorporeal therapies program in San Diego. In 2022, Sheri returned home to the Atlantic Veterinary College where she pursued her passion in teaching veterinary medicine.

Dr. Ross was a founding member of the American College of Veterinary Nephrology and Urology, an IRIS Board Member, and a Faculty member of the Hemodialysis Academy.

Sheri devoted over 30 years of her life to veterinary medicine and advocating for the wellbeing of animals. She attended several conferences and lectures across the world to spread her knowledge and passion.

Her family would like to thank Atlantic Veterinary College for giving Sheri the chance to fulfill her dream of teaching veterinary medicine over the last 2 years and making her workplace feel like home. The support and compassion provided by her work family during this difficult time has been greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.

Her family would like to thank the staff at the QEH for the exceptional care she received throughout her brief illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cat Action Team (CAT) PEI or Red Head Strays or CARMA in Saint John, New Brunswick.

At Sheri’s request, a private graveside service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 at the Hammond River Angling Association in Nauwigewauk, New Brunswick - all are welcome.
