Elias Rashed Obituary

Born on April 2nd, 1937, to David and Lutfa, Elias Rashed grew up surrounded by the beautiful landscape of Lebanon, in a small village in the hills, known as Kfeir. In a one-bedroom household, he grew up with his 5 siblings, Emily, Labeeb "Larry" George, Laura, and Souhail "Cy" enjoying the simplicities of a life founded on modesty, close community, and strong family connection.

At the age of 21, moving to Charlottetown PEI, Elias became known as Louie, where he grew a family restaurant business, The Town and Country, with the love of his life and beloved wife, Faida Rashed. Together, they created a family with three children, Susan, Joseph "Joe" and Danny, whom remember the Town and Country with the nostalgia of childhood memories, celebrations, and friendships made. By raising a family and being in the restaurant business for 42 years in Charlottetown, Louie became known to many for his kind-hearted nature. Louie cherished the relationships he cultivated with his staff and customers. He took the time to get to know each person who frequented his restaurant and everyone whom he worked alongside. With a gregarious affinity for people, Louie created an extended family in the community where he welcomed everyone and everyone felt welcomed; a true family restaurant in both name and meaning.

Throughout his lifetime, Louie genuinely loved watching his grandchildren grow, eat, and play, and would often show up after school to capture that moment. He would express his love for his wife every day, no matter where, or who was there. He loved to go fishing with his sons and brothers, bringing candy for everyone so he could have a reason to eat some too. And cheering for the Montreal Canadiens every chance he could.

With strong ties to his Church, The Holy Redeemer, Louie’s passion of music and singing continued.  He could be heard singing hymns and songs at family festivities and praising everyone, especially his grandchildren, as he walked through the door. With eyes that shone with pride when looking at his children, and an unwavering devotion and love for this wife, Louie exuded the character of a man that led his life with a selfless nature, etched from humble beginnings, modest upbringings, and of a knowing that life’s truest wealth is yielded from the cycle that what gives from yourself grows into others and gives back to you.

After selling the restaurant business and retiring in 2006, Louie enjoyed a life filled with the comfort, company, and dedicated care of his wife, Faida, who was his greatest love for 55 years of marriage.

Together, Louie and Faida participated in the continuation of strong family connections and lasting friendships in the community they loved and called home. They were well known for welcoming anyone that passed by to stop in for a home cooked meal and some wonderful company.

Transitioning from this world into the next on February 21, 2025, at the age of 87, Elias Rashed will be lovingly remembered and missed by all those who had the honor of meeting him.  Whether it was as an acquaintance or from being a part of his life, his kindness has been impressed upon the hearts of many.
