Elizabeth (Betty) Gay-Folland Obituary

The family of Betty Gay-Folland announces her passing at the Atlantic Baptist Home on December 19, 2024, at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Folland; daughters, Melody Gay and Cynthia Gay-Paquet (special friend - Rod); grandchildren, Chloe, Brittany (Nate), and Vanessa (Emma); and great-grandchildren, Rowan and Oaklan. Betty is also remembered by her step-children, Valerie Profitt, Judy (Owen) Simpson, and Patty (Doug) Leclair; and step-grandchildren, Ashley, Jenna, Terra, Gregory, Kathleen, Laura Jane, Julianna, Maggie, and Hannah. She was predeceased by her first husband, Reginald Gay; her sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Eugene Chandler; her son-in-law, Gordon Boothroyd; and granddaughter, Melissa Boothroyd.

Betty was a dedicated music teacher for over 40 years, both in the public school system and privately. She was affectionately known as “Mrs. Gay” by her many students. She took great joy in teaching piano and voice lessons and in directing Christmas choirs, where her passion for music and nurturing spirit truly shone. She was a devoted member of Park Royal United Church, where she served as an elder and choir member, and was a member of the board of the PEI Symphony Orchestra.

Betty had a vibrant personality and an eye for beauty, which she expressed in her sparkling accessories, gardens and through the music she cherished.

The family wishes to thank the Atlantic Baptist staff for their care.
