Eric Douglas McLaine

It is with great sadness that we announce Eric’s passing at the age of 74. He died peacefully at the QEH, surrounded by family.

Eric was born in Milton, PEI into a big family. With twinkling blue eyes and a fun spirited nature, he loved and was loved by all those around him.

He is survived by his beautiful wife Donna, the love of his life who he was married to for 52 blessed years.

He was predeceased by his parents, John (JB) and Helen [nee Wigmore], his mother-in-law Clara, father-in-law Wallace, his baby son Shawn, sister Carol, brothers David and Walter, infant sister and brother, Laura and Lawrence.

Eric will be deeply missed by his children, Korinda (David Wilson) and Mark (Stephanie MacLeod); and young grandchildren, Malia and Kaia; as well as by his sisters, Heather, Susan (Jim), Myrtle (Alan), Nancy and Rosemary (Marvin), and brothers, George (Gail), William (Carol-Ann), Ronnie, and Roger (Michelle) his sister-in-law Elayne, brother-in-law Fenton (Marlene) and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He loved making things and became a skilled carpenter, building homes and doing renos for people all over the Island. He loved every minute of it and was incredibly talented at what he did.

Eric met Donna ice skating, they married and moved to Winsloe. They raised their two children there in a family home Eric built beside the home where Donna grew up. Grandkids finally came along in 2018 and 2021 after a long wait. Eric was thrilled and found the best ways to make visits with Nana and Grandpy fun.

He was one of the good ones. A gentleman who lived his life with strength, kindness, positivity and devotion to family and the church.

He will always be a hero to his children and grandchildren.

Our family is tremendously grateful for the wonderful care Eric received from the doctors and nurses at QEH and Victoria General.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, 175 Belvedere Ave, Charlottetown PE, for visitation on July 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9.
