The death occurred peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home of Florence Evelyn Rea of West Covehead, age 101 years. Dear mother of Jamie (Madeline). Loving grandmother of Dan Cartier (Alisha) and Rick Cartier (Jo-Ellen) and great-grandmother of Rachel, Hannah, Nathanael, Jacob, Anne, Emma, Eden, Sophia, Gabriella, and Alex. Lovingly remembered by her niece Edith Ling (David - deceased) and her nephew Fred MacCann (Tammy). Also surviving are several grandnieces, great-grandnieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her husband James Rea, by her parents Edmund and Bertha (Duck) MacMillan, by her brother Frank, and her sisters Elizabeth Cairns (George) and Jean MacCann (Orr), and her brother-in-law Alex MacEachern.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation on Saturday, December 3 from 1-1:45pm with funeral to follow at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment in West Covehead United Church Cemetery. Funeral for Florence Evelyn Rea
The funeral for Florence Evelyn Rea was held at Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel where the service was conducted by Rev. David Atwood. The organist was Valerie MacKenzie. During the service, the congregational hymns were How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace, while special musical selections included Let The Lower Lights Be Burning and Each Step I Take. Florence’s son, Jamie Rea, shared the Eulogy while Richard Cartier, grandson to Florence, read scripture and offered some Words of Remembrance about his grandmother. All in attendance were Honorary Pallbearers. The Pallbearers included Fred MacCann, Edith Ling, Robert Palmer, John Palmer, Wade MacMillan, Richard Cartier, and Peter Vriends. Michelle Foster, Kathy Ling, Lisa Ling Sherren, and Melissa Craswell were the Flower Bearers. Interment took place in West Covehead Cemetery.
