The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, of George Gossen, at the age of 80. He was surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and four children.
George was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, and a friend to so many.
George immigrated to Canada from Lebanon in 1970. He married his wife Olinda shortly after in Ottawa and then moved to Prince Edward island to start a family. Through hard work, determination, and resilience, built a life for himself and his family—one he could be proud of.
George was a hands-on landlord—a true “Mr. Fix-It.” There wasn’t much he couldn’t repair, and if something was broken, you could always count on him to figure it out. That was just who he was: reliable, capable, and always willing to help.
He loved the simple things in life. Walking along the boardwalk at Victoria Park, having coffee with friends, spending time with his kids and grandkids—and of course, his trips to Montréal to watch his favourite hockey team and enjoy Schwartz smoked meat. Those were some of his happiest moments.
George had a way of making people laugh with his clever, witty sense of humour. He was also incredibly smart, and always had thoughtful advice to offer to family and friends.
What we will remember most is not just what he built—but what he taught us: the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the understanding that a good life doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s found in simple moments, shared with the people you love.
Beloved husband of Olinda, and cherished father of Joseph (Catherine) Gossen, Denise (Jim) Gossen, Rosie (Bobby) Saba, and Richard (Nicole) Gossen. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Maximo, Mya, Nicolas, Aiden, Ava, and Mila.
George will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Alice Mansour (Lebanon), Wadia (Joseph) Abi-Khalil, and sister-in-law Alice Mansour (PEI). He was predeceased by his parents, Yousef and Ziekie (Gossen), as well as his brothers Ghossen, Daher and Elias.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home where a visitation will take place on Friday, March 27 from 4-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer.
