Greg went to his eternal resting place peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on August 5th, 2025. Survived by his wife, Margaret (McInnis) Murphy; his children, Michael and Laura (Jeremy) and much-loved grandson Liam Joseph; his siblings, Patricia, David (Marion), Judy, Edith, Janet, and Donald (Angela); brothers-in-law, James (Sharon), Kenneth, John (Yvonne), and Peter (Donna); sisters-in-law, Florence and Jo-Ann; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Greg was the son of the late Fred and Mary (Matta) Murphy and son-in-law of the late Joseph and Anna (McQuaid) McInnis. He was predeceased by his sister Anne (MacRae) and brother-in-law Joseph.
Greg had a deep love for nature, which was reflected in his work and the life he led. He found great fulfillment in silviculture, carpentry and groundskeeping at Mount St. Mary’s and Avondale Golf Course. His gentle spirit and compassion extended to all living things, with a special fondness for animals. Greg also had a lifelong love of sports and was a talented ball player in his younger years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh or smile, no matter the circumstance. Some of his happiest moments were spent walking in the woods with his beloved sister, Patricia, and his cherished grandson, Liam Joseph.
Greg was known for his quiet kindness and unwavering generosity-always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Above all, he was a devoted father to Michael and Laura, who provided tireless care for his son’s special needs. With Greg, family was his priority and most prized possession along with his work ethics.
Greg will be forever and always missed by all his family and friends.
In keeping with Greg’s wishes, there will be no visitation, and a private burial has taken place in Sherwood Cemetery. Cremation entrusted to Belvedere Funeral Home.
Donations to Shriners of PEI, Special Olympics and the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.
