Jim left our world with courage and dignity and on his own terms, with Donna, his loving wife of 54 years, by his side.
Jim was a kind, giving and intelligent man. He deeply loved family and friends, was generous of heart, and never truly realized his influence on the life of others. His compassion, sense of humour, and pragmatic approach to situations, remained with him and gave him strength throughout his recent courageous battle with cancer.
Donna would like to thank family and friends who supported Jim and her throughout this journey with visits, calls, messages, and love.
Heartfelt thanks also to Dr. Bradley for his care and compassion over the years, to all of the medical teams that have been there for Jim over the last few years in Montague and in Charlottetown, and to the Integrated Palliative Care Team in Montague and Mallory for leading an amazing team of caring professionals who provided such care and comfort.
A special thanks to Dr. Miller and Kae for allowing Jim the dignity he deserved on his final day on earth.
Jim’s wish was to be remembered with happy memories of times together. He wanted everyone to know he had a good life and to say goodbye!
This poem reflects his wishes:
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave
when life is done.
“Jim, my love for you will never end and I will keep our love and memories close until we meet again.” Donna
Jim, by choice, did not want a service, funeral or flowers.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Belvedere Funeral Home in Charlottetown, whom I would like to thank for their care and professionalism.
Messages of condolences or memories can be shared here, if so desired.
