It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jerrod David Brendan Watts, age 44, on Friday, June 20, 2025. Jerrod passed away while doing what he loved, riding his motorbike in his home community of East Royalty.
Born on October 14, 1980, Jerrod was the cherished son of David and Rita (Boulter) Watts and the beloved older brother of Shillaen Watts. He was a devoted pet owner and will be deeply missed by his furry companions: Rooster, Punky, Busy, and Liquorice. Jerrod was predeceased by his grandparents, Victor and Ruby (Downe) Watts and Lloyd and Katherine (McNally) Boulter.
A true Charlottetown native, Jerrod was born and raised on Prince Edward Island before venturing to Toronto in his twenties, where he lived for ten years. Jerrod was a natural leader and a charismatic figure who stood out in any crowd—from his brilliant mind to his great hair. His friends and family will forever remember his sharp wit and the way he could bring a room to tears with laughter. An avid arm wrestler, Jerrod was also a gifted and passionate musician. A true music snob, he could play many instruments but was a wizard on the guitar, renowned for his incredible lead solos. He toured Canada with a band and shared his talent by teaching guitar.
Beyond his artistic talents, Jerrod had a remarkable ability to connect with people. He was the friend you could always count on for honest advice, a wise perspective, and a legendary hug. His sense of style and genuine spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He was a loyal and steadfast friend who stayed connected with his childhood friends while creating lasting memories with new people throughout his life.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of generosity and support from the countless people whose lives Jerrod touched.
A gathering to pay tribute to Jerrod’s life will be held at the Haviland Club in Charlottetown on Saturday, August 16, 2025, beginning at 7 p.m.
