Joanne Elizabeth Flood

Our beloved Joanne passed away peacefully on January 3rd 2025, at the age of 71, after a courageous and heartbreaking battle with Dementia.

Born in Charlottetown, Joanne was the daughter of Emmett & Margaret (Cusack) Flood from Emmyvale. 
 
Joanne was a devoted and loving mother to her son, Kenny Flood (Cathy Beagan), and her daughter, Vanessa Madore (Michael Walsh). She will forever be loved and cherished by her grandchildren, Beckett & Maisie Walsh. 

Joanne’s kindness, grit, easy friendship, infectious smile and sense of humour were at the centre of her beautiful personality.

In her early years she found joy in time spent with family & friends, dancing at the rollaway, and her relationship with the late Douglas Murnaghan. 

She prioritized connecting with the people in her life by taking trips to Toronto to spend time with her children and grandchildren, coffee chats with her many friends at Hunt Ave, spending time with her brothers and sisters, or enjoying the lasting friendships of her IslandTel colleagues. Special thanks to Joanne’s lifelong friends Sis, Susan, Marie and Barb.

She also loved celebrating holidays - especially Christmas - where she would display her beautiful collections of decorations.

She will be remembered by her loving and supportive brothers and sisters; Louie Flood, Alan Flood (Virginia) Patricia Bradley (Flood), Pauline Doucette (Flood) and her best friend and sister Cathy Parkman (Flood/Blaine Parkman.) Joanne is predeceased by her bothers; Francis Flood, Carl Flood, Kevin Flood (Rose) and sister Noreen Savidant (Flood). 
 
Joanne was the adored aunt and great aunt to many and she is fondly remembered by a long list of nieces and nephews from coast to coast, especially by her niece Angela Flood who lovingly considers her a second mom.
 
Joanne’s family would like to pay tribute to Joanne’s amazing caregivers, including the dedicated nurses and staff at Beach Grove in Charlottetown. Sincere thanks to Jenna, Shilja, Ashley, Norma, Anita, Robbie, Shannon, and Joy for their care and kindness extended to Joanne and her family during her time at Beach Grove. Joanne loved everyone who cared for her. 

Resting at Belvedere Funeral home where  visitation will take place on Tuesday January 7th from 2:00-3:30 pm. Joannes funeral will follow the visitation, starting at 3:30 on January 7th.
