John Neville McKittrick passed away peacefully on September 5th, 2023 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born November 17, 1941, in Newcastle, England.
Neville grew up in Hong Kong, lived in Zambia, Bermuda and finally beautiful Prince Edward Island. He enjoyed an adventurous life from his early days as a young rock star and lead singer of Curtis & the Invaders in England. He was a passionate soccer player, including a national level referee, and was president of the PEI Soccer Referee Association. For over thirty years, Neville was the owner of Northumberland Paints and was a paint chemist by trade. In addition, he was a devoted, long-term member and former president of the Charlottetown Gentlemen’s Club, and made many friends along the way.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda, daughter Kerry, and son, Matthew. In recent years, he faced a number of health challenges and approached them in the same manner that he approached most of his life, without complaint and with an iron-willed determination that inspired those around him. Sometimes a man of few words, but always had the best intentions for family and friends. He will be sadly missed, but he has now found peace.
In lieu of flowers, if anyone would like to make a donation, please give to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to thank the doctors and nursing staff who helped provide Neville comfort.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Haviland Club on September 16, 2023 from 1:00-3:00pm and a toast will be raised to commemorate his life and share fond memories. “Miss me a little, but not for long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that once we shared Miss me, but let me go.”
