John Edwin “Eddie” MacPhail, 86, husband of Florence Maud (Yeo) MacPhail, formerly of Argyle Shore, passed peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Born July 4, 1939, in Argyle Shore, PE he was the son of the late Birt and Catherine (MacPhee) MacPhail. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Wade VanEwyk; sister Audrey Wright (Ralph), brothers Ewen and Lloyd; brothers-in-law Lea Windsor and Elmer Yeo; sister-in-law Freda Saunders (Mervil) and father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward and Janet Yeo.
Along with his wife of 63 years, Florence, he is survived by his daughters Janet MacDonald (Raymond) and Jennifer VanEwyk (Howard Shea); grandchildren Michael MacDonald, Bradley MacDonald (Ellen), Jessica Fleming (Dalton), Taylor VanEwyk and Lyssa VanEwyk; brother Burrows MacPhail (Florence), and sister Anna Windsor; sisters-in-law Annie MacPhail, Sue MacPhail, Phyllis Cole (Bill) and Margurite Yeo and several nieces and nephews.
Eddie was a hard-working farmer and family man. He loved the outdoors, spending time at the cottage and with his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of South Shore Villa in Crapaud and at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for the care received.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, from where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 11a.m. A private family interment will take place in Argyle Shore Cemetery.
