Kenneth “Ken” Donald Gairns of Charlottetown, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on December 20, 2025, at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, N.S.
Born in Dalhousie, N.B. on May 30, 1955, he was the son of the late William and Evelyn “Marg” (Dauphinee) Gairns. In addition, he was predeceased by his brother John Gairns, sister-in-law Lorna Gard (Lloyd) and good friend Sandra Quinton.
He is survived by his loving wife Iris (Phillips); daughter Lindsay McClintick (Mark); son Timothy (Colleen); cherished “Bampie” to his treasured grandchildren Sam, Sawyer McClintick, Ashton and Parker Gairns; siblings Barb (Paul) Taweel, Charlottetown; David (Suzette) Windsor N.S; Jim (Rosemary), Fredericton N.B; Wayne (Anne), Emyvale; Susan (Don Smith), Charlottetown; Dianne (Jim) Maund, Charlottetown; Brian (Charmaine) Amherst, N.S; Bill, Montague.
Also survived by sisters and Brothers-in-law Ellen (Gary) Johnson, O’Leary; Frances (Arthur) Lewis, Howlan; Brenda Phillips, Moncton; Ron (Jodi) Phillips, O’Leary; Paul (Heidi) Phillips, Charlottetown. Plus, many loved nieces, nephews and friends.
Ken had a long-accomplished career with the Department of Veterans Affairs and proudly served as CEO of the Charlottetown Club. He was an avid golfer, and loved playing cards, snooker, good books, and doing the crossword every day. Above all he loved his family, which he considered his greatest accomplishment. His humor and quick wit never failed him.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home Charlottetown, with visitation on Monday, December 29 from 4-7 p.m. His celebration of life service will take place on Tuesday, December 30 at 11 a.m. in the Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel.
