The death occurred peacefully at Beach Grove Home on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, of Laura Isabel (Izzy) Wilson, of Cornwall and formerly of Red House, aged 87. Isabel was the daughter of the late Brenton and Marjorie (Harper) Stead. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Barry Wilson, and will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lynne and son Greg (Jill). Isabel was grandmother to Tony (Sandra) and Zach (Zoey), as well as great grandmother to Paisley, Morgan, and Xyla. She is survived by her sister Brenda Stead, Charlottetown and Fredericton; sisters-in-law Lynne Stead, British Columbia; Elaine Stead, British Columbia; Donna (James) Shaw, Desable; Wendy (Klaas) Havenga, Nova Scotia; Sandra Perry, Charlottetown; brother-in-law Clifford, Cornwall, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Bruce (Lynne) Stead, in-laws Ford and Alice (Howard) Wilson, and brother-in-law Joe Perry.
Isabel was a life-long member of the Women’s Institute and the Bay Fortune United Church Women. She was a wonderful baker and cook and always enjoyed sharing her pastries, pies, and preserved jams, jellies, and pickles.
Isabel spent the last years of her life in the excellent care of Beach Grove Home where she made new friends and had many laughs. Her family wishes to express their sincere thanks to all of the staff for their kindness and support, especially during her last days.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, with visitation on Thursday, May 8, from 4:00 to 7:00.
Her funeral service will be held from Bay Fortune United Church on Friday, May 9, at 11:00. A visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Internment to follow in the church cemetery.
If so desired, donations in memory of Isabel may be made to the Beach Grove Home Recreation Fund or the Bay Fortune United Church Cemetery Fund.
