Leona Kathleen (Dennis) Matthews

It is with heavy hearts the family of Leona Kathleen Matthews announces her sudden passing which occurred on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at her residence. Born in Charlottetown, PE on March 11, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Lena (Smith) Dennis. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Roy Matthews, siblings, Frank, Gordon, Super, Nadine and Edna.

Leona is survived by her son Roy Matthews (Shelley); partner Mark Byrne, sister Verna Fall and grandchildren Olivia Gibbs (Stephen) and Mikayla Bevan; several nieces and nephews.

Leona was well known for her love of her antique truck and car shows. She loved her yard sales and her crafts. But what she really loved most about all them was talking to people.  

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home with visitation on Sunday, October 22 from 4-7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held from Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 23 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in People’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of Leona may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
