Following a brief battle with cancer, Lonnie Thompson, age 66, passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on December 27, 2025.

Born in St. Eleanor’s, Prince Edward Island, on June 2, 1959, to Muriel (née DesRoches) Thompson and the late Elmer Thompson. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Laurie (Compton) Thompson; his son, Aaron Thompson (Stephanie McKenna); his daughter, Micaela Thompson (Dana Adams); and his mother, Muriel Thompson.

He will also be dearly missed by his brother, Errol (Cathy) Thompson; and his sisters, Carol Delaney and Sandy Thompson.

Lonnie will also be missed by his nephews K.K. Thompson, Samuel Compton and Charlie Thompson; his nieces Lisa Thompson, Jilian Delaney, Maria Compton, Anna Compton, and Jorja-Rae Thompson; his mother-in-law Eleanor Compton; and his brother-in-law Lloyd (Brenda) Compton. Also his step grandchildren Colby Adams, Kelsey Adams, and Rachel Adams.

Besides his father, Lonnie was predeceased by his brother-in-law Al Delaney, his niece Kilby Delaney; and his father-in-law George Compton.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses in Unit 3 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. A special thank you is extended to Drs. Kristen and Jason Kallestad, Dr. Song and Julie Ogden, LPN, for their kindness and support - you will never be forgotten.

Lonnie is resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30 from 4:00 to 7:00pm. A funeral service will take place at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, December 31 at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
