It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis (Louie) Earle Flood, who died peacefully on January 25 at the Atlantic Baptist Home in Charlottetown after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Louis was born on August 4, 1943, in Green Bay, Prince Edward Island, to the late Emmett and Margaret Flood. As a young boy, his family moved to Charlottetown, where he was raised and spent most of his life, aside from time living and working in Toronto.
From an early age, Louis developed a deep love for hockey, skating on the outdoor rink with his siblings and neighbourhood friends. That passion stayed with him throughout his life, especially when it came to his cherished Montreal Canadiens. It was only fitting that he was able to watch the Habs on Hockey Night in Canada one final time shortly before his passing. Louis was also a proud, active member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Charlottetown Friendship Group.
In addition to his parents, Louis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marlene Flood (Shields), and by his siblings Francis Flood, Carl Flood, Damien Flood, Kevin Flood, Noreen Savidant (Flood) and Joanne Flood.
He will be deeply missed by his children Shannon, Sharyn, and Wayne (Deb Cammalleri) and their mother Sandra Ward; his treasured grandchildren Shayne, Nathan, Liam, Ryan, and Madeline; his companion Donna Diamond; his siblings Pauline Doucette, Patricia Bradley, Allan Flood (Virginia) and Cathy Parkman (Blaine); as well as many nieces and nephews who held him dear.
A wake will be held at Belvedere Funeral Home on Monday, February 16, from 4:00–7:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, February 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel. This service will be livestreamed via the following link Livestream. If you have difficulty accessing the livestream, please call 1-877-895-2739. A Knights of Columbus Prayer Service will be held prior to the start of the visitation at 3:30 p.m.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the healthcare staff of Units 2 and 3 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. MacKenzie, for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness during Louis’s time in hospital.
Louis will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his quiet strength, humility, integrity and most of all his profound love of family.
Donations in memory of Louis may be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
