Marguerite "Rose" Wilkinson Celebration of Life October 12 Obituary

M. Rose Wilkinson - We, the family, are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our much loved sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Surrounded by family and friends, Rose passed peacefully on July 4, 2024, at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre.

In her early years, Rose was employed as a hairdresser. She went on to work for the Royal Bank in Truro until retiring from there to raise a family. Family was paramount to Rose, and she dedicated her life to making sure her family was well taken care of, and to ensure each and every one of them knew love to its fullest potential.

Rose was a caring neighbour, delighted in hosting a gathering, had a brilliant sense of humour and could always be counted on to help anyone in need. Friendship was of the utmost importance to Rose, and she was a dear friend to so many. Her “5 Crown girls”held an immense spot in her heart, including her very special friend of over 30 years, Kathy Sheppard. The two shared January 7 as their birthday, and each felt that made them kindred spirits. One of the most important friendships Rose had was the one she shared with her sister, Denise. Rose and Denise shared a very special relationship. Not a day went by where they didn’t talk, and Rose cherished her visits with her in River John, catching up over a game of cards, and many laughs.

Rose is survived by her greatest love, Charlie, her husband of 50 years; her sons, all of whom meant the world to her, Chris (Amber), Jeff, and Shawn (Kate); her sister and very best friend, Denise (Blayne); precious granddaughter, Charlotte; and already immensely loved grandson-to-be, Oliver.

A grand celebration of Rose’s life will be held at the Haviland Club on Saturday, October 12th from 2-4 p.m. In honour of Rose’s memory, do something special for someone else, plan the trip you’ve been putting off, and eat that piece of cake. If so desired, donations can be made to the Provincial Palliative Care Centre (please mail cheques to Provincial Palliative Care Centre, 93 Murchinson Lane, Charlottetown, PE, C1A 0G3 or e-transfer to palliativeadmin@ihis.org ensuring that it is noted in the e-transfer who the donation is in memory of) or to the Red Cross.
