The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, May 24th, 2026, after a brief illness, of Marlene McKenna of Charlottetown, formerly of Iona, PE.
Sister of Michael (Norma), Blair (Sharon), Sandra (Matt), Danny (Judy), Anthony (Karen), David (Jean), Nancy (Marty, dec.); Nieces and nephews, Julia, Daniel, Meghan, Clancy, Scott, Janine, Andrew, Martin, Kim, Nicole, Jeff, Morgan, Ralph, Carl, Dylan, Ryan, Dianna, Jasmine, Kaley, Jalen, Nya and Evan; Special grandnephews, Blaze, and Dakota ; and grandniece Emma. Predeceased by parents Louis and Irene, siblings Bernice and Willliam Joseph in infancy, and brother Clayton.
Marlene will also be missed dearly by her many friends including Colleen, Janet, Paula, and Michelle.
Marlene spent her career caring for the elderly. Her career began at Beach Grove Home then on to Brekon House from where she retired. Retirement was short-lived as she began working at Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home then moved on to doing in-home private care.
Marlene was well known by her family, friends, colleagues, and clients as a kind, generous, and loving person. She was a beautiful soul and had a way of making others feel comfortable and loved. She had a heart of gold and great sense of humour, and she will be truly missed by those who loved her.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, where a visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28th from 12:30-1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church at 2:00 PM, followed by interment at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery in Iona.
