Marlene Elaine Smith

Marlene Elaine Smith, born on May 10th, 1955, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2026, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents Lenus and Mary (nee Power) Smith.

Marlene will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Fenton Smith, and her children Laurie Smith (Scott McDonald), and Keith Volkomer (Samantha Phanthumchinda) and Liz Lanter (Jamie) and grandchildren Sophie, Mia, and Ian Lanter. She is pre-deceased by her siblings Johhny Smith (Gladys), Gerlad Smith (Betty), and Mary (Gordon) McGuirk and brother-in-law Roland Smith.

 She will be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Donna McLaine (Eric).

Her strength and resilience were evident throughout her life and especially during her final days.

She will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home. Honouring Marlene’s personal wishes, there will be no service. A private burial will take place at a later date.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marlene may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
