Surrounded by the love of his family and with an appreciation for a life well lived, the death of Michael Joseph MacAdam occurred on February 13, 2025 at the age of 69 years in Charlottetown. Michael was born on April 17, 1955 to his parents A.J. and Ethel MacAdam (Kelly). He will be deeply missed by his siblings Mary Louise (Glen Gifford); Colin (Joanne née MacKinnon); Nora (Roy Wotton); Brain, Larry; Charlie (Liz Vilé) and Ian.
He was predeceased by his brother Gerry. Michael was the proud uncle to eleven nieces and nephews as well as three great nieces.
After graduating from UPEI with a degree in Physics, Michael became fully bilingual in French while completing a Master’s degree in Physical Education at Laval University. He spent much of his professional career living in Quebec.
One of his passions was coaching basketball. He held coaching positions at University of Laval, University of Victoria, University of Windsor, the Province of Saskatchewan, the International School of Brussels, and Basketball Canada.
His other Passion was internet technology. Michael was an early adopter of technology, especially the Apple computer in the 70’s. He eventually combined his love of French with his love of the internet by working at developing a language-learning app.
The family is very grateful to the staff at the Garden Home for the incredible care they provided to Michael in his final years.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Belvedere Funeral Home Reception Centre on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., a brief ceremony will be held with a time following to mingle with family and share your stories of Michael.
