At home with his loving family, Mike MacKinnon, aged 77, of Charlottetown, Georgetown and Grand Tracadie, passed away on April 15, 2026. For the past 3 years Mike battled his health issues stoically and with his usual crazy humor, determined to enjoy every minute and showing us all how to do the same. 

Mike leaves behind his wife of 45 years Marlene (King); daughters Jessie (Jeremy Coffin), Jaime Dawn (Jeremy Steeves);brothers and sisters Donnie (Leona), John (Joanne), Paula Hughes (Larry), Fran Connolly (Mike), Joanne MacAdam (Colin); his 25 nieces and nephews, 38 great-nieces and nephews, 1 great-great niece, and his grand dogs Ollie, Georgie, and Hurley. 

Mike spent most of his teaching career at Birchwood Intermediate School and was so proud of the impact past and present staff made to Charlottetown families. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, pool player, sports fan (go Raptors!), music lover, a beautiful singer, and took on any home project with his own special creative flair - and whatever materials were immediately available! Always ready with a story or a song, Mike loved his time with family and friends and made a lasting impression on everyone he met.

A celebration of life will be held in the Belvedere Funeral Home Reception Centre on Tuesday, April 21st from 3-6 pm. The family will receive visitors at 3:00, followed by a brief ceremony at 4:45, with time afterwards to mingle and share all our Mike stories. 

Mike and “his girls” were very thankful and appreciative of his entire health care team, with special shout outs going to Doctors Murnaghan, Peterson, Ashby and Boyd.
