The death of Mitchell Joseph Reid, aged 64, occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Born on November 12th, 1960 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia to the late Gordon and Marion Reid, Mitch will be remembered for his compassionate heart.
Mitch had a heart for helping others, particularly those struggling with homelessness, addiction and hardship. He was known for organizing barbecues in the park and collecting presents to distribute at Christmas time for those in need. His kindness extended far beyond his immediate circle, as he constantly sought to make a difference in the lives of others.
In his later years, Mitch was a resident of Corrigan Home in Charlottetown, where he formed meaningful connections and found joy in caring for those around him. He will be remembered by his brother Dannie (Janet) Reid of Stratford, PEI, and was predeceased by his brother Brad. Mitch's nieces and nephews, extended family, members of his church community at the Charlottetown Christian Reformed Church and many special friends will cherish the memories of his generosity and love.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home with a visitation on Monday, December 16th from 4-6 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Christian Reformed Church (153 Mount Edward Road) on Tuesday, December 17th at 10:30 a.m. and the service will be livestreamed on the church's YouTube Page here Christian Reformed Church YouTube Page.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Teen Challenge, an organization dedicated to helping individuals overcome addictions, a close cause to Mitch’s heart.
