Nancy Rita Gilbert

Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on July 23, 1959, Nancy Rita Gilbert, age 66, passed away peacefully at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on January 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her partner, Mark Kane; her mother-in-law, Madeline Kane; her children Beth Gregory (Mike), Melissa Murphy (Stephen), Becky Gregory (Jason), and Anthony Gregory (Katelyn); and her cherished grandchildren Jillian (Jordan), Alicia (Wade), Austin (Savanna), Andrew (Jenna), Gavin, Justice (Dustin), Luke, and Remi. She was also a proud and devoted great-grandmother to Isaiah, Addy, Theo, Nora, Clara, and Easton.

She is survived by her siblings Janet MacDonald (Gary), Lynn Gilbert, Debby Rose (late Danny), Glen Gilbert, Meltire Gilbert, Mark Gilbert (Heather), Karen Shea, and Valerie Smith. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Hank and Betty Gilbert (née Smith), and her brother Kent Gilbert.

Nancy was a special step-mother to Kelisha and Martaya, and a loving step-nana to Rahkwon, A’Keilah, Uhnikah, Lataya, Javion, and Taniyah.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Provincial Palliative Care Centre team for the exceptional compassion and care shown to Nancy, as well as to the staff of the Cancer Treatment Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation on Saturday, January 31, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:45 p.m. in the Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel.
