With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Pauline McKenna-Coyle (nee Farrell) who died peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, December 4th, 2025 at The Mount Continuing Care Community.
Born February 18th, 1935, Pauline was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Lannigan) Farrell. She was predeceased by her loving husbands, Lawrence McKenna (d. 1988) and Joseph Coyle (d. 2012); brothers Bernard Farrell (Mary), Kenneth Farrell (Biddy) and sister Eleanor Dodd (Jim); and nephews Finley, Danny and Terry Farrell.
Pauline will be dearly missed by her loving children Mark McKenna, Michael McKenna (Cindy), and Eleanor "Ellie" Bruce (Devlin) as well as her six cherished grandchildren; Andrew, Kevin, Bethany and John McKenna and Eoin and Ada Bruce. She is also survived by several nephews and one niece whom she loved.
Pauline graduated from the Charlottetown School of Nursing, Class of 1960. Over a 37 year career she nursed in Halifax, Montreal, and Vancouver but was most fulfilled by her work in the Intensive Care Unit of the old Charlottetown Hospital and the Emergency Room of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Pauline loved her family and friends. She enjoyed walking, gardening, travelling and getting together for ceilidhs and card plays. Pauline was a lifelong faithful Catholic who loved our Lord and our Lady. She died as she lived - with the prayerful recitation of the Holy Rosary. May she rest in peace.
Visitation to take place at the Belvedere Funeral Home on Thursday, December 11th from 4-7 PM.
Funeral Mass will be at St Pius X Roman Catholic Church on Friday, December 12th at 1:00 PM. The Mass will be livestreamed at this link: Remembering Pauline. If you have difficultly accessing the livestream, please call 1-877-895-2739. Reception to follow in the church basement.
