It is with heavy hearts and appreciation for a life well lived, the family of Ralph Brewster Bishop, announces he has been lovingly reunited with his beloved wife of 65 years, Verna (MacDonald) Bishop, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the Atlantic Baptist Home, with his daughters at his side.
Born in Perry, Maine, USA, he was the son of the late John and Lois (Young) Bishop. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by his siblings John, Donald, Peggy and Dorothy, brother-in-law Everett MacDonald (Irma), son-in-law Mike McNeill, and father and mother-in-law Vernon and Evelyn MacDonald.
He is survived by his children Linda McNeill, Stephen (Sharon) of Mississauga, ON, Karen MacPherson (Alan) of Halifax, NS and Ralph of Ottawa, ON. Cherished grandfather to Craig (Jayne), Chris and Meghan (Ethan) Bishop, and Nicole, Connor (Chelsea) and Kaleigh MacPherson, and sister-in-law Esther MacQuade (Roland).
Ralph grew up in Deer Island, NB, work took him to Saint John, NB where he met and married Verna. They moved to O’Leary, PEI in 1959 and then to Sherwood in 1967 where they shared many wonderful years. Ralph was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was an avid sports fan, especially hockey, he followed UPEI Panthers, Charlottetown Islanders and was loyal Detroit Red Wings fan. Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed many days at his cottage in Cumberland, PEI.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, where a celebration of life reception will be held in the reception centre on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 1-3 p.m. A private family interment will be held in Sherwood Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the PEI Alzheimer's Society. Special thanks to his care givers on Hemlock.
