The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Saturday, March 28th, 2026 of Reginald Joseph (Reggie) Doucette, of Charlottetown, aged 74 years.
He was the beloved husband of Helen Jean (Larter) Doucette and father of Jody (Michelle), Jason (Anne Marie) and Olivia Doucette, and the cherished grandfather of Anthony (Katherine Cudmore), Nathan, Cassie, Cohen, Julia and Jordyn Doucette. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley Byrne, Linda (Bill Harper) Peters, Camilla (John) McAleer and brother Donald (Carol) Doucette and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Zilda Doucette, his sister Dianne Thomson, brothers in law Jim Thomson, Stirling Peters, and Terry Byrne, mother-in-law, Kathleen (McGlinchey) Larter and father-in-law Norman (Hawk) Larter, brothers-in-law Michael Larter, and Norman P. Larter, Russell Moore, and nephews Cyrus MacDonald and John Fraser.
Reggie enjoyed a successful career as Installation and Repair Manager with The Island Telephone Company, covering a large portion of PEI, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service and having made many friends along the way. Over the years he enjoyed hockey, golf and bowling tournaments across the Maritimes, and always enjoyed attending the Island Tel Pioneers Christmas parties, Pioneer Pace and lobster suppers. In his retirement, he took on a delivery role at Robert K Buzzell’s (later Auto Choice) doing deliveries to keep himself busy, sharing the job with a variety of his fellow Island Tel retirees, Ronnie, Stan, and Paul. Reggie kept in touch with many of the Island Tel family organizing breakfasts and lunches for everyone to get together. Reggie could always be found at the rink for the Charlottetown Islanders games, always standing, never in his seat, with either nephew Cyrus, or in the last few years with his friend Mike in what they referred to as “Coach’s Corner”. Reggie was always out and about, keeping in touch with everyone, family, friends and former colleagues. He spent many Christmases bundling up the kids to make sure he visited his parents, his mother-in-law, his aunts and uncles. He continued over the years to always make sure to check in with anyone that needed some support, and he was always ready with a good joke to make everyone laugh.
