The death occurred on Wednesday November 12, 2025 of Rev. Dr. John Robert Cameron, age 92 years. Beloved husband of Anne (nee MacEachern). Father of five - Ian (Tina), Don, Alan (Shannon), Andy, and Bruce (Laurie), Father-in-Law of Aileen Cameron, Grandfather of 10 - Tim, Andy, Grace (Sam), Alasdair, Margaret, Jade, Lauren (Matt), Rowan (Rebekah), Clare (Shak) and Mari (Andrew). Great-grandfather of 4 – Eesa, Zach, Jude and Ben.
He is predeceased by his father George Cameron, mother Ann Archibald Cameron, and grandson Andy.
John was born in New Glasgow in 1932 and attended schools there including New Glasgow High School where he played on the school rugby team and he was pipe major for the high school band. John received a Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University (1953) and a Bachelor of Divinity from Presbyterian College in Montreal (1969). John received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Presbyterian College in 1981.
John and Anne were married in 1956 and together they raised 5 boys. Anne has been a vital supporter and contributor for all of his professional and personal activities.
John dedicated his life to the Presbyterian Church, was ordained in 1956 and served as minister at St. Andrew's church in Dartmouth (1956-1962), St. Andrew's church in Lunenburg (1962-1972), the Kirk of St. James in Charlottetown (1972-1996), and St. Paul’s church in Merigomish (1996-1999). In addition to his duties at the local level, John provided leadership at both the regional and national level of the church, by leading and serving on numerous committees over 37 years. In 1991-1992, John served as Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada (National Leader of the Church). Highlights were attending the 100th anniversary of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa in Kenya and attending the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. While in Africa Anne and John also visited Churches and Church Institutions in South Africa (Johannesburg), Mozambique, and Malawi.
Other activities in Charlottetown included: Sports and Recreation for the Disabled, College of Optometry, Chaplain of the Legion, Rotary and Easter Seals, Meals on Wheels, Christian Council, Bible Society, and Clerk of Synod of the Atlantic Provinces (Presbyterian Church).
When John finally retired, he enjoyed his time as a grandfather, a golfer, and a writer. Although he was never a serious golfer, he enjoyed getting out with his sons and grandchildren. He was proud to say that he did have a hole-in-one. He enjoyed writing about the interesting things that he had done in his life and recording these stories for family and friends in a book titled My Journey.

John is resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, with visitation on Monday November 24 2-4 and 6-8PM.
