It is with heavy hearts, the family of Ron “Ronnie” Kenny, loving and devoted husband of Betty (Arsenault) Kenny, announces his passing which occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Born in Byrne Road, PE, on February 13, 1946, he was the son of the late Tom and Catherine (O’Donnell) Kenny. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Reta Kenny, sister-in-law Marlene Dunn and brother-in-law Vince McCormick.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Betty, he is survived by his children Cindy Gaudet (Rick) and Mark Kenny (Tracy); grandchildren Emma (Hannah), Jon, Heidi (Tyler), Brody, Jack and Bridget; great grandchildren Theodore, Olivia and Mason; siblings John Kenny (Mary), Laura Gallant (Alfred), Marie McCormick, Ian Kenny (Mary) and Eric Kenny (Lila); brothers-in-law Bobby Arsenault, Alfred Arsenault (Helen) and Brendon Dunn; sister-in-law Carol Dunn (Joe); adored by his nieces and nephews.
Ron spent many years working across the province and around the world as a Journeyman Lineman with Maritime Electric, a career he took great pride in. Deeply committed to his community, he served as a town councilor for Southport, was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, and a union leader with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He also gave his time generously as a coach for many of his children’s sports teams. Ron was an avid sports fan, especially of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays, and found great joy in golfing, fishing, playing cards, attending horse races, and traveling to Florida with Betty.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, with visitation on Saturday, April 11 from 4-7 pm. His funeral service will be held in the Belvedere Funeral Home chapel on Sunday, April 12 at 12:30 pm, followed by a gathering in the reception centre.
