Rózsa (Rose) Mária Szabó (née Lugosi), 81, of Belfast, died September 7, 2025, Charlottetown.

She was born on August 23, 1944, to Ida and András Lugosi in Jászberény, Hungary. 

She married Ottó Géza Szabó on September 1, 1962 in Toronto. They had two children, Anna Susan and Irene Elizabeth.

She worked at Simpson’s-Sears for over 30 years before moving into credit and collections with major banks, retiring from CIBC in 2006. After retirement she became an avid painter, enjoyed travelling with her family, and was an active member of her seniors’ community in Southern Ontario. She finally made her dream move to be by the ocean with her daughters in 2023 and was resident at Whisperwood Villa, Atlantic Baptist, and Gillis Lodge. 

Rose is survived by sister Susan (Frank), daughters Anna and Irene (Kevin), nephew Andrew (Daniella), nieces Judy, Jessica (Chris), and Kelly, grandsons Nicholas (Jane), Daniel, and Justin, grandniece Alyssa, grandnephew Christian, and expected great-granddaughter Elora.

She was predeceased by her parents Ida and András, brother Andrew, sister Ida (Harold), and husband Ottó. 

In keeping with Rose’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation entrusted to Belvedere Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown would be appreciated by the family.
