After a life well lived, Shirley Joan Good passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Shirley was born February 14, 1932, in Hampton, PEI to Lewis and Agnes (MacVittie) Myers. Shirley grew up in Crapaud with her two younger siblings, Valerie and Heather. At the tender age of 14, she left home to attend Prince of Wales College where she completed her business training.
She met her soulmate and love of her life, James Good, and they were married on November 11, 1950, in Toronto, ON. In 1952 they returned to PEI and settled on the family farm in Winsloe, where they raised their four children: Gayle, Gary (deceased), Debbie and Dean.
In addition to farming and raising a busy family, Shirley and James pursued many entrepreneurial ventures over the year including electrical contracting, laundry mat, Massey Ferguson dealer, farm implements dealer to name a few. Shirley’s business acumen complemented James’ tireless work ethic and exceptional sales skills.
Shirley was never one to be idle. She loved to bake, garden, needlepoint, knit and crochet - but she will be most fondly remembered for her award-winning rug hooking. She was a proud member of the Island Matters Rug Hooking group where she formed many lasting friendships.
For many years, Shirley and James spent part of their winters in Florida, enjoying rides on their Harley and participating in park activities. Shirley deeply cherished the lasting friendships she nurtured there.
Shirley’s greatest joy was family gatherings. She especially loved it when the little ones came to visit - there were always cookies in the cupboard and love in her heart.
Shirley is survived by her children, Gayle (Goldie) Weeks, Lethbridge, Alberta; Debbie Good (Jerry Woolfrey); and Dean (Bernice) Good, both of PEI. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Cara (Rob) Thomas; Dena (Chad) Kuzyk; and Jamie (Jen) Weeks from Alberta; Justin (Colleen) Good, Scotland UK; Ryan Woolfrey (Liem Vu), Toronto, Ontario; Cody (Emmy Lou) Good, PEI; her great grandchildren: Regan Kuzyk, Caitlin Kuzyk, Carson Thomas, Mataya Thomas, Golden Weeks, Ella Weeks, Elizabeth Good, and Jimmy Good; and her sister Heather Best and family.
