Shirley June (Ford) Sanderson Obituary

With love, strength, and characteristic thoughtfulness, Mom chose to write her own farewell in her own words. What follows reflects her heart, her love for family and friends, and the life she wanted remembered and celebrated. We are honoured to share her message exactly as she wished.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my passing at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Shirley June Sanderson (Ford) of York Point. Aged 67 years.

I was born in Harrington, PE to parents Sterling and Norma Ford. I say “See you later” to my amazing, wonderful, loving children and grandchildren. I worshiped being your mom and nana: Jamie-Lynn Sanderson (Wayne) – Reese and Reagan, Brodie Sanderson (Samantha) – Oaklie, Denver and Ivory, Dylan Sanderson (Rebecca) – Lucia. My dear kind friend Lena. My amazing brothers and sisters, my many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, my sweet friends, many nieces and nephews and special fur babies.

Saying goodbye to my best friend in life is hard. I love you dear Ricky and I couldn’t imagine doing this journey called “life” without you. You are my rock-hero, I want you live life with laughter and new memories.

My love for life and people is immeasurable. I have lived such a wonderful life and I am so grateful for each and everyone of you.

My closest friends and family would know I would only want to celebrate that.

My celebration of life will be at Belvedere Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 10 a.m. For those wishing to join my extraordinary family.

“Play the music and dance”

“Remember the dimes and geese”

Love you all – See you later xoxo Shirl, Mom, Nana

In lieu of flowers, Shirley has requested donations to her grandchildren's education fund, which can be accepted at the funeral home.
