Susan Brine Heaney, age 83, passed away December 25, 2025 at Atlantic Baptist Homes, Charlottetown, PEI.  Predeceased by her husband John, parents Henry and Amy (Dareing) Brine, and brother Christopher.  Susan is survived by daughters Joan Heaney of Evanston, IL and Jane Heaney of Calgary, AB, grandsons Ronan and Evin Tierney, brothers David Brine of New Ipswich, NH and Jay Brine of Middlesbrough, England.

Susan was born in Arlington, MA and resided in Acton, MA before moving to Rusticoville, PEI in 1982.  She graduated from the UMass Amherst,  attended graduate school at the University of Lowell, and retired from the Atlantic Veterinary College.

A voracious reader, she found great joy in sharing her extensive home library with anyone seeking a good book. Susan’s home was a place of open doors and warm welcomes, where friends and family were encouraged to drop by at any time.

Susan was happiest with the simple pleasures of life—a good book, a glass of wine, and fresh oysters. Her family’s fondest memories will be of Susan at the kitchen table, surrounded by loved ones, trading sharp-witted remarks and infectious laughter. 

While her passing brings a bittersweet release from her battle with dementia, there is comfort in knowing her spirit now soars free as she finds her way back to her beloved husband John.

By personal request there will be no services for Susan.  Arrangements have been  entrusted to Belvedere Funeral Home.
